We propose follow-up X-ray observations of two HII regions detected in the XMM-Newton Galactic Plane Survey (XGPS). Our objective is to compare the X-ray morphology of these regions with radio and mid-infrared maps so to locate embedded ionizing stars. The EPIC spectra will clarify whether thermal or non-thermal processes dominate and reveal whether the mechanism which gives rise to the hard Galactic Ridge radiation also contributes to the hard X-ray luminosity of HII regions.
