We propose to observe the optically highly polarized Narrow-Line Seyfert 1.5 galaxy IRAS 12397+3333 in order to study its complex warm absorber features with XMM-Newton's RGS. This observation will enable us to determine the ionization states of the ionized gas around the central black hole and by the column densities and blueshift of the absorption lines we can determine the gas outflow rate. In combination with other observational techniques such as optical spectropolarimetry and by comparison with other XMM RGS observations of AGN with warm absorbers we can test and fine-tune (unified) AGN models. RX J12397+3333 is one of a few known X-ray bright AGN with warm absorbers which have yet not been observed by XMM.
