XMM-Newton observes X-ray afterglows of Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) with a reaction time of the order of 10 hours. Scientific highlights are the detection of an afterglow 67 days after the GRB occurred, Dark Bursts and the detection of soft X-ray emission lines. Based on the established reaction time and on the obtained results scientific objectives of future XMM-Newton observations of GRB afterglows are formulated.
