We present a set of programs that can be used to automate the analysis of X-ray astrophysics data, with emphasis on extra-galactic sources. The system is capable of downloading data from archives, reducing the data, detecting the sources, fitting the sources with a simple model to determine source extent, and then based on the prelimenary fits extract appropriate background and source regions for spectral, temporal and (more detailed) spatial analysis. The current system supports ASCA and ROSAT data and prelimenary Chandra support is expected by the summer of 2001. A quick-look web-based program is also available to determine crude flux estimates. The www site is http://www.xassist.org. This work is supported by the NASA AISR program with contract NAG5-8092.
