A unified plasma model has been developed to explain a number of different X-ray emitting sources. The model relies on streaming motion between different plasma-plasma or plasma-neutral populations. The prerequisite condition for the mechanism to work is turbulence, a likely natural consequence of the streaming instability. The turbulence generates energetic electrons that can then go on to impact either neutrals or ions. The result is either line radiation or bremsstrahlung, respectively. Examples of where the model is applicable are:- X-rays from the aurora, solar flares, the dark side of the Moon, comets, and other planetary atmospheres. Several cases will be presented and compared with the model.
