The central few hundred parsecs of galaxies is a unique region where stars and different phases of interstellar medium (ISM) are present in a dense state and frequently interacting with each other. Such interactions play a crucial role in regulating the activity of the central super-massive black hole (SMBH) as well as the evolution of the host galaxy on large scales. Here we present a multiwavelength investigation for the nuclear environment of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). In particular, the presence of hot gas, traced by diffuse X-ray emission, and its interaction with the nuclear spiral, traced by optical recombination line emission, are revealed. In the absence of an active SMBH and recent star formation, Type Ia Supernovae are most likely the engine for the hot gas. Constraints to the X-ray behavior of the SMBH are also derived. This work, supported by the SAO grant AR7-8006X, is part of an X-ray study of M31 with archival Chandra observations.
