We are conducting a comprehensive search for distant, X-ray luminous galaxy clusters in the archival XMM-Newton observations to understand the cluster structural evolution and to help constraining cosmological models. The third most distant galaxy cluster discovered so far has also been detected in the SPTZER red-sequence cluster survey as the most impressive and distant object in their survey. We request a sufficiently deep observation of this cluster with XMM-Newton in order to determine precise global physical parameters for the cluster, to add to the study of cluster scaling relations at high redshift, to compare the optical properties of the galaxy population with X-ray properties of the cluster, and to collect enough well characterized objects for cosmological tests.
