The newly discovered very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray source HESS J1718-385 lies in close proximity to the energetic pulsar PSR,J1718-3825. This object appears to belong to a growing class of 'offset' pulsar wind nebula (PWN). So far no sensitive X-ray observations of this region have taken place. If confirmed by XMM observations, this would be the first PWN discovered in VHE gamma-rays. The predicted X-ray flux is sufficient for detailed spectral and morphological studies of this object with XMM.
