The results of seven Ginga observations of the archetypal Seyfert 1 galaxy, NGC 4151 are discussed. The new Ginga measurements have allowed variations in the slope of the hard power law continuum to be distinguished from changes in the intrinsic column density. The spectral index variability is investigated. It is found that the Ginga data above 4 keV require the photon spectral to vary between 1.4 and 1.7, depending on the X-ray luminosity of the source. The results of numerical calculations of the time dependent behavior of the X-ray spectrum are presented. The assumption that the X-ray power law is produced by Compton scattering of UV photons on relativistic electrons, which are mono-energetically injected into the source region, is made. The observed flux-index correlation can be reproduced for a modest change in electron compactness only for a restricted range in input parameters.
