Following the discovery of GS2023+338 by Ginga, the source was detected in the 2 to 300 keV energy band by the experiments onboard the Kvant module. The source position was localized using data from the coded mask imaging spectrometer. Between Jun. 8 to Aug. 1989 a continuous decrease of X-ray luminosity and strong short time variability were detected. Timing analysis showed strong low frequency noise in the power spectrum of the source.
