Scientific paper

X-ray electronic studies show that the upper layer of the Luna-24 regolith, in comparison with the lower layer, has a larger amount of unoxidized metallic iron, a larger surface-to-volume concentration of silicon, and a smaller surface-to-volume concentration of calcium. The relation of external cosmic factors to this distribution is considered. A high degree of homogeneity of the regolith surface film is indicated, and unoxidized silicon and titanium are detected in the upper layer of Luna-24 regolith (and of Luna-16 regolith also).
