X-ray absorption is a powerful tool for diagnosing the structure of
AGNs, particularly when variability is seen. I will give a series of
short examples, ranging in scale from the 'torus' to 10 Rg, from
several satellites, including: Chandra, XMM-Newton and Suzaku.
