The cataclysmic variable star (CV) WZ Sagittae was last seen in outburst
23 years ago in 1978. The previous observed outburst was in 1946 and the
one before that in 1913. It came as quite a surprise, therefore, that
the star strayed from its previous 33 year period and went into outburst
this summer only 23 years after the preceding one.
