The WIYN Open Cluster Study (WOCS) is a project dedicated to the comprehensive study of photometric, astrometric, and spectroscopic properties of open star clusters. This REU project studies open cluster NGC 2420 in order to refine the measured values of its astrophysical properties. Observations were made in the UBVRI filters with the WIYN 0.9m telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory. We performed PSF photometry using Daophot II, allowing for spatially-dependent PSFs and aperture corrections. Color-color diagrams were used to determine the reddening and metallicity of NGC 2420, and the theoretical Yale-Yonsei Isochrones were used to establish the distance and age of the cluster. We find E(B-V) = 0.07 ± <0.01 ± sys, [Fe/H] = -0.16 ± 0.05 ± sys, (m-M)0 = 12.38 ± <0.05 ± sys (= 2.708 ± <0.062 ± sys kpc), and age = 1.79 ± 0.05 ± sys Gyr. This work has been supported by the National Science Foundation under grant AST-0452975.
