Reasons for continuing the study of lunar samples are discussed. It is maintained that the study of moon samples provides the basis and reference point for comprehending the primary differentiation of any planet. For instance, it is claimed that understanding the moon's lack of water may explain which geological processes require water and which do not. Lunar studies discussed involve the derivation of Mg-suite rocks, the nexus among anorthosites and their relationship to a possible magma ocean, and a class of mare basalt that contains less than one percent titanium oxide. Also, examined are the difficulties associated with lunar samples including brecciated samples and minute sample allocations. Finally, the declining interest in lunar samples is attributed to the erroneous attitude that all significant lunar questions have been solved.
