A white-light flare occurring at the solar limb and its associated loop prominence system were observed in white light on August 16, 1989. Nine photographs of these phenomena were reduced. The brightening of the flare at the limb was explained by an increase in temperature, estimated to be of the order of 5250 K; its total energy emitted in the WLF was inferred to be 10 exp 30 erg. The bright top of the flare loop is thought to be due to bound-free/free-free emission, and its electron density was estimated to be about 10 exp 12-13/cu cm.
