We propose to obtain IUE L-alpha profile measurements for eight hot DA white dwarfs. The technique employed is to obtain a double exposed, large and small aperture, SWP image in order to optimize the L-alpha profile of each star. A significant additional factor is the availability of 912 to 1150 A fluxes from the Voyager ultraviolet spectrometers for each of these stars. The additional Voyager data serve two important functions. First, they independently measure the continuum level between L-alpha and L-beta. Second they provide a check on the shortest wavelength IUE fluxes, thereby increasing confidence in IUE measurements of the blue wing of L-alpha. Improved measurements of the L-alpha profile promise to provide a sensitive measure of the temperature for DA white dwarfs as well as providing an important constraint on the surface gravity. Such determinations can be directly compared with the temperatures estimated from energy distributions observed with Voyager and IUE and with ground based estimates of the surface gravity. Extensive grids of pure hydrogen model atmospheres are now available so that a thorough investigation of the compatibility of models and observations will be possible.
