Approximate expressions for whistler-mode polarization taking into account the effect of finite electron density, the contribution of ions and the effect of nonzero electron temperature are derived in the form convenient for practical applications. These expressions are particularly important for the study of whistler-mode polarization in a rarefied magnetospheric plasma where the electron plasma frequency is not well above the electron gyrofrequency.
