The Chandra Data Archive has been in operation since September 1999. Its primary function is to distribute data to users. Over the years, four interfaces to the archive have been developed: two are web-based; one is stand-alone; one is ftp-based. The public data in the CDA is mirrored at sites around the world. Downloads are logged and have been maintained in a database since 2002. In addition to tracking the number of files and the volume of data being downloaded, this database is used to perform meta-analyses, some of which are reported in this paper.
