Certain specific instances of geological study based on the examination of meteorites are discussed. It is suggested that the fall to earth of large meteorites and other cosmic bodies after solid-crust formation has important geological consequences. Significant information about the crust's structure can be obtained through a careful geological analysis of structures created by such impact events and of the rocks contained in them. In addition, important information can be obtained about the nature of the meteroids themselves and about processes reponsible for the formation of the solar system.
