The Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument design and image acquisition modes are intentionally similar to the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) and the Near-Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS), which allows for the use of nearly identical data file formats, data handling, calibration methods, and calibration reference files. As such, WFC3/UVIS channel images have the same format, file contents and products, and calibration methods as the ACS/WFC. WFC3/IR channel image and calibration characteristics are likewise similar to NICMOS. This paper presents details of the overall flow of data processing, reduction, and calibration through the STScI WFC3 pipeline systems, including the raw and calibrated file formats and products, the calibration steps that are applied to remove instrumental effects, and the reference data used by each step. Raw images are produced by the WFC3 generic conversion procedures, which are calibrated by the calwf3 program, and are combined and corrected for geometric distortion by MultiDrizzle, all of which rely on reference data from the Calibration Database System (CDBS).
