Gravitational lensing produces weak coherent distortions in the shapes of background galaxies. This 'cosmic shear' provides a powerful technique to directly map the mass distribution in the universe. The wide-field capabilities of the SNAP mission provide a unique opportunity to measure cosmic shear from space. We will quantify how SNAP will measure the weak lensing power spectrum and set tight constraints on cosmological parameters. The mission design and the small PSF of SNAP will yield very reduced systematics, a crucial limitation for this technique. We will show how cosmic shear complements supernovae in constraining the equation of state of the dark energy with SNAP.
