Weak global magnetic disturbances have a quasi-oscillatory nature, occur usually in geomagnetically quiet times, and are distinguished by a quasi-stationary temporal structure and a quasi-uniform spatial distribution. In the present paper, records of H-components of these weak disturbances are presented for various latitudes and longitudes. Consideration is also given to generation mechanisms for these disturbances and to the distribution of the associated current system, which appears to agree with the usual bi-vortex structure of magnetospheric convection at midlatitudes. The relationship between the closure of zonal nocturnal ionospheric currents by longitudinal magnetospheric currents and the magnetic conjugacy of disturbances in the morning sector is investigated.
