Many astronomical signals are often accompanied with transients and discontinuities that require extensive treatment to analyze. Using localized basis functions, or wavelets, one can obtain approximations to transients and discontinuities that would otherwise be impractical with Fourier analysis. This increases the efficiency and quality of signal analysis. I present an easily extendable application of wavelets with highly illustrative wavelet transform representation to pulsating white dwarfs.
