The linear polarization in UBV has been measured for twelve stars in the Pleiades. The directions coincide with filament directions in the nebulae. Pleione shows a polarization deficiency in the ultraviolet, which is typical of early-type shell stars. By using the polarization, the direction of rotational axis of Pleione is found to be parallel to the direction of magnetic lines of force in the surrounding nebulae. An increase in the amount of polarization in Pleione during the observations indicates a growth of the disk surrounding the star. Several other stars show indications of intrinsic polarization.
