Wave processes associated with the maximum development of auroral electrojet intensity during 00-08 LT on February 15, 1978 (75 deg W) were studied on the basis of vertical-sounding data obtained at the Havana station, Doppler measurements on the Boulder-Havana path, and auroral activity indices. Spectral-density analyses indicate the existence of marked quasi-periodic oscillations of electrojet intensity with periods of 18 and 30 min, as well as significant oscillations with periods exceeding one hour, corresponding to substorm duration. The results confirm that internal gravity wave generation occurs during magnetospheric disturbances; these waves propagate to lower latitudes, ther quasi-period increasing with distance from the source.
