The utilization of diagnostic techniques which develop simulation data for the study of plasmas is examined. The application of diagnostics to an electrostatic model with two spatial dimensions and three velocity dimensions is described. The generation of various data files for plasma waves or ion waves using the main code, and the calculation of various parameters with the post-processing program and the database are studied. The energy and momentum flow in an electrostatic system are investigated. The procedures for developing a Poynting vector for electron energy flows in the system and for evaluating the flow of kinetic energy density and flux are analyzed.
