This is a resubmission of a proposal that was granted time in the 2009OCTS semester but could not go ahead due to CABB zoom modes being unavailable. We request 96.5 hours of ATCA time to observe all the 6.7 GHz methanol masers found by the Methanol Multi-Beam (MMB) survey south of the Galactic Centre for 22 GHz water maser emission. It is recognised that the presence/absence of various maser transitions trace an evolutionary sequence in the formation of high mass stars. The largest uncertainties remaining in this sequence relate to water masers and Class I methanol masers. Using the accurate positions obtained with the ATCA in these observations will help determine the relative evolutionary phase traced by water masers in comparison with the other common maser transitions. The different maser species present at a site of high mass star formation provide us with insights into the physical conditions which we will also probe using the additional zooms on CABB to observe ammonia transitions, OCS, a hydrogen recombination line, a methanol Class I maser and methanol thermal lines.
