Rapid brightness variations of the quasar 3C 273 with amplitudes of
0.23, 0.10, 0.14, and 0.13 m in U, B, V, and R, respectively, were
discovered during observations made on 19-20 April 1988. UBVR light
curves for 3C 274 are illustrated. The present data confirm the findings
of Courvoiser (1988).
