Progress in the search for co-intelligences since the initiation of space exploration is summarized. The impact of the Viking search for life on Mars on future approaches to the search for extraterrestrial life is considered. It is suggested that a multinational search for the radio spectrum making use of the computational capacity of large scale integrated circuitry for the simultaneous analysis of many frequencies be undertaken, and that steps be taken to prevent irreversible pollution of the radio spectrum by satellite signals.
