We request time to map the 12CO emission from 6 molecular cloud complexes in the LMC. The sample will be used to measure the masses of extragalactic GMCs using three independent methods based on i) the 12CO emission, ii) near-IR extinction of background stars and iii) excess far-IR emission from dust in the molecular cloud. Our project is a unique and timely opportunity to combine analysis of high resolution Mopra 12CO data with the latest, high-quality near- and far-IR data from the 2MASS 6X catalogue and Spitzer survey of the LMC.
