The absolute flux of the sun at 15.4 GHz has been determined as 511 times 10 to the minus 22 sfu for a period of six days, using an optimum gain horn with hot-cold calibration loads. The maximum uncertainty of this measurement, considering all possible observational and system errors was calculated to be about 4%. The normal patrol measurements use the moon as a calibration source and for the corresponding period provided a flux of 518 sfu. The two sets of measurements show a consistency of 1.4%, well within the absolute accuracy calculated for the horn-derived values. Critical comments on this and other experiments are reviewed.
