We are currently undertaking observations of a sample of QSOs at a redshift of 2 to determine the typical parameters for the emission lines in luminous objects. Our data cover the Lyalpha \ to MgII region and we have used measurements of the redshift differences between the CIV and MgII line to extend studies the velocity shift studies of previous workers and to investigate the nature of these shifts. Our results confirm that velocity differences are larger in more luminous objects and also a number of other previously reported trends. We discuss the implications of this for current Broad Emission Line Region Models as well as for measurements of the intergalactic ionizing background.
