Past, present, and future U.S. and Soviet missions to Venus are surveyed and illustrated with photographs, radar images, drawings, and diagrams. Topics examined include the ongoing Soviet Vega 1 and 2 missions (with balloon-borne probes and surface landers), the use of the Pioneer Venus UV spectrometer to observe Halley's comet at perihelion in 1986, the NASA Venus Radar Mapper to be launched in 1988, and the terrain features seen by Venera 15 and 16 imaging radars. A chronological table of all missions since 1961 is provided.
