Vertical distributions of wind velocity in the Venus atmosphere were obtained which agree well with measurements made with Venera-8 and Pioneer-Venus as well as with the VIRA wind model. The results indicate a general increase of wind velocity with height, a large vertical velocity shear, and low wind velocities in the lower atmosphere. Differences between Vega 1 and Vega 2 profiles are examined. The static stability profile of the atmosphere is also plotted, and variations of the vertical component of wind velocity are considered.
