Molniya-1 measurements were made of variations of the trapping boundary of relativistic electrons at energies above 1.3 MeV (measured by scintillation counters) and energies above 1.5 MeV (measured by ionization chambers) at geomagnetic latitudes of 20-50 deg. A correlation between the position of the trapping boundary and Dst variations was observed during the main phase and restoration phase of magnetic storms. The boundary moves towards the earth as the negative value of the Dst index increases, and it moves away from the earth as the magnetic field is restored. A correlation between the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field and variations of the trapping boundary is also found.
