The paper discusses published data on rocket-borne measurement of the height of the emitting layer of atomic oxygen in the green region of the spectrum. Seasonal, diurnal, and tidal variations are determined, along with the dependence of these parameters on the level of solar activity. The mean height of the layer is found to be 98 km while its thickness is about 8 km.
