Spectrographic observations of the shell star HD 50845 made in December 1984 have disclosed variations in the appearance of Hα and a decrease in the intensity of the strongest metastable and resonance lines of Fe I and Ca I, with respect to observations made with the same equipment ten months earlier. The underlying star seems to be a velocity variable F5 V object.
