A search for variable stars within the tidal radius of the galactic globular cluster NGC 6541 has located seven new variables of RR Lyrae type, as well as one previously known slow variable. The positions of the RR Lyrae variables suggest that few, if any, are true cluster members, but their brightnesses are not inconsistent with membership. Firm conclusions about membership cannot be made at this time.
