The degree of regularity of the magnetic field in high-velocity streams of the solar wind is assessed in order to determine whether the properties of the magnetic field in such streams differ appreciably from magnetic-field properties in the quiet solar wind. An analysis of IMF variability shows that the field-strength modulus in high-velocity streams varies appreciably less than in the quiet solar wind. This result is found to be associated with the origin of the high-velocity streams; the field structure produced in such streams is less complex, i.e., more regular, than in the quiet solar wind.
