Solutions of the stellar wind equations for 70 O-type and 19 B-type individual stars are presented. The calculated mass loss rates M, terminal velocities v(infinity) and line profiles are compared with the observed ones. It is shown that a theoretical upper limit of the mass loss rate exists. Wind variability in connection with this critical mass loss rate is discussed.
