We used the 1-m telescope at the Table Mountain Observatory in Wrightwood, CA to monitor an open cluster Berkeley 87 between June 5 and August 6, 2008. We obtained reliable r and i measurements on 26 nights for roughly 1000 stars, most of which are cluster members, with i magnitudes ranging from 10.5 to 19.2. We find the stellar variability in this cluster to be considerably lower than has been reported for the Orion Nebula Cluster, though Berkeley 87 is estimated to be of roughly the same age ( 106 years). More than half the stars we monitored have σ < 0.1. A search for periodic variables is ongoing. Preliminary analysis yielded a dozen candidates with periods ranging from 2 to 12 days.
