We prove some injectivity, torsion-free, and vanishing theorems for simple
normal crossing pairs. Our results heavily depend on the theory of mixed Hodge
structures on compact support cohomology groups. As applications, we obtain
several basic properties of semi divisorial log terminal pairs.
