A geographic information system approach has clarified 3D relations of
geological units in the Vallis Marineris of Mars through a superposition
of black-and-white and color images on a digitized topography. These
images indicate that extensive mass wasting may have occurred on
interior layered deposits in Ophir and central Candor Chasmata.
