Scientific paper

The effect of gravity on the probability of vacuum decay through bubble
nucleation is evaluated for a scalar field in an arbitrary curved
background. It is shown that it is possible to set up a perturbative
calculation and that, to leading order, there is no need to consider a
constrained solution.
