We propose a 100 ks observation of the V407 Cyg, a symbiotic star which recently experienced its first recorded nova outburst. A new X-ray observation of the system in quiescence will allow us to establish the timescales over which accretion is re-established after the nova outburst, and if it has, the rate at which material is accreted by the white dwarf. We will also study the long term evolution of the nova ejecta. Characterizing the accretion process and interaction of the ejecta with the companion wind is a key part of understanding type Ia supernovae like SN 2002ic, which exhibit evidence of strong circumstellar interaction.
