Scientific paper

A photometric UBV study of the W UMa system UZ Octantis is presented. Light and color curves were constructed from 1095 individual observations on each passband made with the 1.54 m reflecting telescope at the Bosque Alegre Station of Cordoba Observatory. A first classical approach to the orbital elements is given. The system is an A-type W UMa star, probably in a contact configuration.
