Our main goal is to search for the population of objects that contribute to the rise in the observed volume-averaged star formation rate at intermediate redshifts (z<1). We have selected our sample from the WFPC2 (F300W) parallel observations of ACS/HST within Great Origins Deep Surveys (GOODS) fields. We have identified them in the ACS GOODS images and used template fitting of the spectral energy distributions to estimate their photometric redshifts and obtain their spectral types (early-, late-types, starbursts). Analysis of the light concentration, asymmetry and clumpiness,shows that this sample is a mixed bag, containing dwarf ellipticals, early- and late-spirals and peculiar objects which resemble mergers in progress. A very small fraction of the sample have X-ray sources associated with them. Our preliminary results indicate that galaxies of all types going through intense star-formation are responsible for the rise of the SFR at z<1.
