Two main examples of the use of VPython in Classical Mechanics courses will be discussed. One project involves recording (using a faculty provided VPyhton program) in situ the shape of hanging chains of different materials, comparing the modeling results for proposed theoretical curves and finding the location of the center of gravity of the chain. A second project is assigned to the students: to calculate the fall times along different plausible trajectories in a vertical plane and to verify numerically and experimentally that the cycloid is indeed the solution of the brachistochrone problem. Other interesting applications of Vpython in undergraduate physics courses will be presented as well.
