The use of Voronoi tessellations in source detection is described. An algorithm is developed which uses Voronoi tessellations to obtain the perimeters of photon sources. The results of tests in which the algorithm was applied to elliptical sources are summarised. Two applications of the algorithm to real data (an X-ray source and filaments in the large-scale distribution of galaxies) are given.
